We know how tough medical school can be,

which is why we want to support you as much as we can

Hello, My name is Rufus and I will be your welfare representative for the next year. This is the second year I am holding this role. I had a big part in the establishing of this new position last year, so you'll be in safe hands.

My role will involve me being a point of contact between students and the Medical Schools students support team. I meet with them in monthly meetings feeding back the welfare needs of the students to bring about valuable changes within the School of Medicine. These meetings have already been a great source of information (that you can find on my Instagram page, @welfareMSRC), and as these meetings continue into the new year, I hope our cooperation can continue with the same efficiency. I also hope to have lots of contact with the new freedom to speak up guardians, fully streamlining their role within the school of medicine, so they can be as helpful to you as possible.

Rufus Robinson, Welfare

Leeds University Union Support

Whether you’ve got an issue with your deposit, conflict with your housemates, exam results to appeal or financial worries, LUU can offer practical solutions. LUU are also here to support you through personal and emotional challenges.

LUU can help students with pretty much everything, but here are some key areas they’ve supported students with before:

  • Living in Leeds, staying safe and any house hunting or renting problems;

  • Exam support, appeal procedures or any aspect of studying at Leeds;

  • Postgraduate and international student specific queries;

  • Budgeting advice and financial support;

  • Mental health, relationship and addiction advice.

The service is confidential, which means we won’t share your private information or talk to anyone about what you have told us. They’re also independent from the University, so if you are having any problems with your course or your School you can talk freely with them – although they do work with the University to find the best solutions, they’ll only tell them what you are happy for them to share.
