About us

The Medical Students’ Representative Council (MSRC) is a student-led body that represents all students at Leeds Medical School.

We exist for the students, run by the students.

We at MSRC are the official link between the student body and the Medical School—working to ensure your voice is heard and that your time here is supported, enjoyable, and impactful.

Whether it’s academic concerns, student wellbeing, or course feedback, our friendly and approachable Year Representatives—including Gateway and Intercalation reps—are here to listen, support, and escalate issues to the people who can make change happen. We advocate for student interests through weekly committee meetings and regular attendance at MBChB staff meetings, ensuring that your feedback shapes the future of the course.

  • Merchandise Co-ordinator – manages official Leeds Med School merch

  • Research Representative – connects students to research opportunities and updates

  • EDI Reps (Equity, Diversity & Inclusion) – advocate for an inclusive and supportive learning environment

  • Societies Rep – supports MSRC-affiliated societies and collaboration across groups

  • Sponsorship Rep – secures partnerships and funding for student-led initiatives

  • Publicity Rep – manages communications, social media, and promotion of our events and elections

There are two election cycles during the academic year:

  • Annual General Meeting (AGM) in March: election of the Executive and General Committee roles

  • Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM) in October: election of First Year Reps and any remaining positions

We’ll share details of upcoming elections closer to the time, but if you’re curious or have questions, feel free to reach out!
