Strikes Meetings & Communication
Primary care placement is still going ahead as normal
Secondary care placement will not go ahead
The school wants student feedback on the strike guidance - e.g. are there issues getting dops done?
The guidance states that the University doesn’t support fifth years stepping in and working
If you want to support the strikes, it’s best to check what the BMA is saying
General Updates & AOB
Shenaz Ahmed will be working closely with the BMA reps, EDI reps and other members of the MSRC committee going forward on EDI related projects in the school of medicine
Third year reps have gotten the issue of lack of scrubs sorted, students are now entitled to an extra set of scrubs for placement
Fourth year reps raised the issue of confusion among students on what comes under electives and will be getting in contact with staff for clarity on this
Fourth year reps raised the issue of some students who intercalated at external universities missing the clinical skills catchup sessions due to having external email addresses - intercalating rep will look further into resolving this issue
It has been raised that there was a lack of clarity on the clinical reporting tool during intro weeks - this will be followed up with the relevant staff members
Some people in fifth year still haven’t heard from certain hospitals about their placements starting next week - individuals should email their placement lead or Laura Fishwick (head of the placement team) to chase this up.
